Case Study Report

Location: New York

Application Type: Gun Range

Design: Direct fired heaters were installed to provide heating and ventilation. The system was sized to provide 50 FPM across the face of the shooting lanes per ASHRAE recommendations. A remotely mounted exhaust fan switch allowed the system to be adjusted based on the number of shooting lanes in use.

Advantages:

  1. Nearly 100% efficient direct fired burners
  2. Pressure controls maintain constant negative space pressure to prevent fumes from escaping to other rooms
  3. Provides 100% outdoor air for ventilation
  4. System continuously meets fresh air requirements for space per ASHRAE 62.1
  5. Cross draft ventilation draws propellant emissions away from operators
  6. Variable air volume (VAV) package allows for reduced airflow dependent on occupancy
